Oglethorpe Gallery is pleased to announce The Jim Cox Installation, a memorial exhibition featuring the extended media work of Bethani Wells. The exhibition is intended to commemorate Jim Cox (1924-2016), a former resident of Savannah, Georgia.
The opening reception will take place Friday, October 27th from 2-6pm. The gallery will also be available for experiencing on Saturday, October 28th from 11 am-5pm and Sunday, October 29th from 11 am-5 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The artist invites all viewers to bring a handful of dirt to participate in the installation. In bringing offerings of dirt to add to a greater whole, Wells hopes to create moments of meditation and reflection within those experiencing the work. Moments that will not only allow for appreciation of Jim Cox's legacy, but for a reflection of all of life's ephemerality as well.
